Pet Policy

General Policies
I require that pets must be up-to-date on vaccinations including Rabies & Distemper-Parvovirus. Pets must be free from parasites including fleas and ticks. Owners must disclose any behavioral issues including aggression and anxiety-related concerns. We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet that poses a risk to us.

 

Care and Liability
We will provide care as instructed by the pet owner and ensure the pet's safety and well-being at all times. In case of an emergency, we will make every effort to contact the owner and the pet’s designated veterinarian. If neither can be reached, we reserve the right to seek appropriate medical care at the owner's expense. We are not liable for any pre-existing medical conditions or injuries that may arise during the pet-sitting period.


Owner Responsibilities 
Owners must provide clear and accurate instructions regarding pet care including feeding, medication, and general routines. Owners must provide all necessary supplies including food, medications, leashes, & bedding.


Interview/Meet and Greet
I require that, prior to the start of services, we have a meet and greet with you and your animals. At this time, you can give us detailed instructions for the care and routines of your pets. 


​Communication 
Regular updates will be provided via text or call. Your preferred frequency will be discussed during the interview.


​Emergency Contact
I require at least one emergency contact that will be near the location of the sit. Additionally, I require that you provide your preferred Veterinary Clinic.


​House Keys
Clients must provide a key or access code. Keys will be stored securely and returned if preferred.


​Visit Times 
Visits will occur at the scheduled times determined during the interview. If changes need to be made, inform us ASAP.


​Off leash Pets
If your dog is trained to be off leash outside, please inform us of the words, or devices, that your pup is familiar with regarding their recall.


Horses
I require that prior to the start of services, you ensure the fencing for the pasture is secure and the stables are also secure. Please give us detailed expectations for the care of your horses. 


​Chickens and Feathered Friends
I prefer that your feathered friends are enclosed and safe at night to ensure that they are away from predators. If you do not have an enclosure, know that you are taking a risk that they may be lost during our sit. 


​Outdoor Cats
If you have a cat that remains outdoors, we are not liable for any lost pets. If you have a cat that remains outdoors all day and comes in only at night, I cannot assure you that I will be able to have your cat indoors at the exact time of our visit. If your cat does not return for nightly containment, we will provide food and fresh water outside.


​Litter Boxes
We will clean litter boxes each visit. Please provide enough litter as we refresh it every 7 days (sooner if you prefer). 


​Destruction by Pets
We make all attempts to limit destruction by pets to household goods. If we notice a pet chewing on the furniture, we will attempt to remove the attraction. Owners are responsible for any damages caused by their pets.


Sick Pets
Inform us of any health issues. We can provide basic care but I will charge an extra $10 to each visit that requires one of the following: injections, IV Fluids, and wound care. If your pet becomes sick or injured during the sit, we will inform you immediately and take the proper action to treat your pet. This may include veterinary care. Any charges as a result, will be included in your bill.


Cancellation Policy
If a visit is canceled with 24-hour notice, there will be no charge. If canceled within 24 hrs prior to the start of services, we require 50% of the planned sit.​

​

Holidays
Early booking is encouraged. We apply an additional $10 to any sits that occur on Holidays.


​Shared Responsibility
If you decide to split responsibility between us and your friend or family member, it may cause confusion in the care of your pets. Most common problems include overfeeding, unlocked doors, lost keys, or missing feeds all together. I discourage shared sitting assignments outside of our team, but if you choose to do so, please let us know and give us the contact information for the other sitter. This way, we can communicate with them and ensure your pets are getting consistent care. 


​Overnight Stays
Inform us of any specific household rules or areas that are off-limits to pets. Please show us where you would like us to sleep and what bathroom you prefer I use. We guarantee that we will stay/sleep in your home overnight. Additionally, we will not leave your home for more than 5 hours at any point during the day, unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon. We always clean the house and wash the sheets and linens that we've used–please inform us if you do not want us to use your washer/dryer. 


​Boarding
Only the owner, April Hudgins, provides boarding services. Generally I only accept 1-2 crate trained dogs at one time. Prior to the start of boarding your pet, I require that you visit my home and have a meet and greet with my pups. During the boarding sit, I guarantee I will be at home throughout the duration of the night and I will not leave my home for more than 5 hours at any point in the day, unless otherwise discussed. 


Camera Policy
We require full disclosure of any cameras inside the home–active or not. We do not need to be made aware of cameras outside the home but out of respect for our privacy we ask that you be transparent with indoor cameras. 


​Arriving Home
Please notify us when you are home to ensure pet safety.


​Billing
At the end of the sit, owner, April Hudgins, will provide an invoice & ask that you provide payment within 3 days of the completion of services. If an independent contractor provided the sitting services you must still pay me & I will pay the independent contractor. I prefer cash, however I will also accept checks and electronic funds transfers including Zelle, Venmo, and Cashapp. My address for each form of payment will be listed on the invoice.
