April Hudgins Pet Care Services is a locally owned, insured pet care company built on a lifelong love of animals and a passion for caregiving. Founded by April Hudgins, a former healthcare professional, our mission is to provide a trusted, personalized alternative to kenneling.
Our experienced team treats every pet like family, carefully trained in pet safety and handling. Serving the greater Middle Peninsula of Virginia, we offer overnight care, drop-in visits, dog walking, and secure boarding. Meet and greets lay the foundation for long-term partnerships between our sitters, clients, and their pets.

April Hudgins, Owner
Hello! I’m April Hudgins, proud owner of this business and a lifelong animal lover from Mathews County, VA. I live here with my husband, our two Brittanys—Honey and Sadie—and our 16-year-old cat, Delilah.
After attending George Mason University’s Honors College to study Social Work, I gained hands-on experience as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and Behavioral Technician, honing empathy and attention to individual needs. With a lifelong passion for animals and caregiving, I’m honored to provide trusted, premium pet care to my community.
Barb Novack, Sitter
Barb moved to Mathews in 2023 after several years in Corpus Christi, where she enjoyed caring for her own and neighbors’ pets. Now, she loves providing pet sitting services to Mathews County, bringing flexibility, attentiveness, and excellent communication to every visit.
Alexis Richardson, Sitter
Alexis, from Gloucester County, shares her sister April’s lifelong passion for animals. She cares for a variety of pets, including horses, and brings dedication to every animal she meets. Pursuing her bachelor’s degree online, Alexis has the flexibility to provide overnight stays and other pet care services, making her a reliable caregiver for her community.
Madison Klaiss, Sitter
Madison grew up in Gloucester County, where she gained hands-on experience with a wide variety of animals on her father’s farm, Fresh Start Farm 4 U. Today, she lives in Yorktown, VA, and has dedicated her life to caring for the pets of her community. Madison provides both drop-in visits and overnight stays for clients in all of our service areas.
Elizabeth Miller, Sitter
Elizabeth lives in Gloucester County and has a lifelong passion for animals. Over the past four years, she has volunteered, transported, and fostered pets for several local rescues, caring for more than 40 dogs along the way. Now, she continues her dedication to animal care as a pet sitter, offering boarding, drop-in visits, and overnight stays throughout all areas in the greater Middle Peninsula.
